Family not loading
Every time I click on one family in particular, the game stays on the loading screen. The music keeps playing and the cursor is still moving. I am still able to move the mouse around the screen. The only way I am able to get rid of the screen is if I just control-alt-delete. All the over families load up with no problem but this family just keeps getting stuck on the load screen. They were in vacation but I forced them to come back home and since then still have not been able to play as them. They are at home but I can not play as them. Has this happened to anyone else?

Audio problem
I recently just got into the Sims 2 (hi! -waves-), and for some reason, when my Sims speak, there's no sound coming out. I see their mouths moving but that's it. I still hear the music, the TV, the sound effects, everything but my Sims talking. And when I expand the cheat menu, it always says that there's an audio failure. I checked the audio settings and turned everything up to maximum, and I've reinstalled many times, it doesn't seem to help, so I think it might be an issue with the CD, like, I'm missing the audio parts, or something. If anyone can help, I would very much appreciate it. It's just a little weird that the only sounds I hear when they're talking on the phone is the footsteps. Thanks in advance!

I seem to have acquired an eternal baby.
So today, it should have been a baby Sim's birthday. Someone picks him up and gets the "Help With Birthday" action in her queue, but then it cancels. I thought it was just because the person picking him up wasn't one of his parents. So I have his mother pick him up. The same thing happens.

Desperate, I use boolprop TestingCheatsEnabled true, shift-click the baby and select Set to Birthday. Still, nothing happens.

No, I did not also use aging off. Aging was on the entire time I was playing this house, but the baby just would not age up. How do I fix this and make him a toddler?

Cold babies
I keep getting messages that my Sim's baby is freezing, but he's inside and usually in a crib. What more am I supposed to do to warm him up? It's not like you can put any clothes on them.

Invisible items!
as the title suggests, items in my game have suddenly started turning invisible.
wait, let me explain better.

I'll place an object, and it works fine, and then I'll resume playing the game somewhere out of the line of sight of the object and after a while it'll just disappear, but my sims can still use them, although only by themselves, I can't click on it.

So far it's happened to two objects, the expensive Maxis microwave, and the expensive Maxis telescope.
my hood is fairly new, and all my hacks are up to date, as is CEP.

I have all expansions except Uni + holiday stuff, H&M, kitchen and bathroom, mansions and gardens, family fun stuff...I think that's it.

Any suggestions?

Expansion Packs/Furniture troubles?
Hi guys. I posted here a few months ago about not being able to use custom furniture, but that's fixed thankfully! However, I recently got a few expansion packs and I installed them (If it matters, I have Pets, OFB, Uni, Seasons, and Nightlife) and I go into the game and I want to use the custom furniture I have but I go into the sort by room and sort by function folders and none of the furniture is there. It's not in its collections folder either. I DO have Custom Content turned on. The downloads folder says that all the furniture is still there. Any reason as to why it's not showing up? TIA!

Help finding a couple of outfits?
I figure this is a long shot but I've spent hours now searching for a couple of toddler outfits and I just can't seem to find them, so if anyone recognizes these outfits, can you please point me in the right direction? I'd love you forever!

Start-up Problem?
I keep trying to start my Sims 2 game, but it won't load past the screen that says something about "Genetic Modifiers" (or something to that effect.) It should be the last thing or so to load, but it takes FOREVER to load, and I've waited 30 minutes before shutting it off and it still never loaded past that screen. Does anyone know why this could be happening? I do have a lot of cc downloaded... but would that do anything to it? I do have a pretty slow computer, but it's never done this to me before, just the past few nights I've tried.

Do the Sims 2 games work with every operating system?
I'm getting a new computer for Christmas, and my mom doesn't know what the operating system is. I want to order some new games (namely the base game so I can actually play on the new computer), but I'm not sure if they'll work. See, with the recent release of Windows 7, I'm not sure if the games will work on it, in the off-chance I get that operating system. I know that the XP games can work on Vista, but can the XP and Vista games work on Windows 7? Can each game work on all operating systems, providing that the PC ones are on a PC, and the Mac are on Mac?

EDIT: *Thanks to everyone for answering; All these answers are very reassuring and I'm confident that whatever I get, I'll be fine. And I hope other people with the same question are put at ease by this as well :D

Clicking problems! Pie Menu disappears!
Hi, I'm having a major problem with my game!

I'm playing the Sims 2 Pets on a three-year-old Compaq Presario that has never, ever had any difficulties before. I haven't used the game for about three months (I was away at uni, and left my game at home for obvious reasons!!) and I tried to play today.

It loads fine (faster than usual, I swear!!) and everything seems to run fine - until I try and click on a sim. The 'action menu' appears for a split second and then disappears, as if I was clicking twice!
I have no custom content so that shouldn't be causing a problem.

I've checked out my touchpad, and it doesn't seem to have any funky settings...
Can anyone help me out?

Castaway-style story
I'm looking for a Castaway-type story I read a while back. I can't exactly remember where I read it but I'm sure it was a forum rather than on LJ. I understand it's reasonably well-known so maybe someone else knows where to find it?

The author used a objects from the MATY Castaway sets to create a tropical island for her shipwrecked sims, and I strongly recommend the story for anyone who hasn't read it.

Hi there,
I own Uni, NL, OFB, and AL.

Is it possible to have a sim run a home business from her apartment? I was toying with the idea of having sims live in the top floor of a converted warehouse, while having the lower floor used as a business space.

Unfortunately I've searched and not found any way to make this possible. Please please please tell me there's a hack out there that will allow me to do this!

i downloaded mailbox replacements that replaced the default mailboxes. now the apartment mailboxes won't show up - its just a regular mailbox like you'd see outside a house. since it replaced the defaults, how do i undo it and get the defaults back?

Light blue screen? Help!
I'm sorry if this has been brought up before, but I desperately need some help.

Originally I only had the base game and Pets installed, and everything was working fine until I installed Teen Style Stuff. After I installed it, it wouldn't load the game so I uninstalled it and the game started working again, somewhat. Now, everytime I play, the screen goes black for about 20 seconds after loading the neighbourhood (doesn't matter which neighbourhood), then goes back to normal; however when I load a lot, a light-blue screenish type thing appears. When I move the cursor or my sims around, it goes away in that particular spot but it always comes back. What is going on??

I now have the base game, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage and Ikea Home Stuff installed. Also a lot of CC, could this be the issue? I want to delete a lot of it, but I have no idea how. :/
